Reverse osmosis filtration is an all-natural water treatment process, an under the sink filtration system, stopping nearly every contaminant that tries to take a ride up your cold-water line. First water passes through a sediment or carbon filter, which reduces sediment, dirt, and rust. The next filter is a carbon filter, which reduces foul odour and taste, as well as chlorine, lead, and other metals. The third and most important filter in the process is the membrane. Water is forced through a membrane that has very small holes. Clean water passes through and impurities that are too big to pass through the membrane are left behind and flushed away. The purified water is collected in a holding tank and passes through a final carbon filter just before you drink it. The water is accessed from a special faucet mounted on your sink. Reverse Osmosis units can also be customized so you can access the water from your fridge.
TASTE is the first noticeable benefit. With all the impurities and contaminants removed, there is nothing left but the clean, refreshing taste of pure water. Cooking with filtered water greatly improves the taste of food. Tea, coffee and juices have more flavor.
GOOD HEALTH is the greatest benefit – R/O filtration removes a wide range of contaminents such as: lead, copper, arsenic, cadmium, chlorine, giardia, pesticides, salt, trihalommethanes, sulfates, cysts, nitrates, bacteria, viruses, fluoride. (see “water and your health” for information on the danger of these contaminents in drinking water)
R/O systems use no electricity or chemicals.
R/O systems are easier, more economical and environmentally friendlier than bottled water.
Q:Where is a reverse osmosis system installed?
A: Reverse osmosis systems are usually installed under the kitchen sink or nearby cabinet, but can be installed downstairs, in utility rooms, and garages. We must be able to run a water line from the faucet to the R/O system. The line can run up to 50ft away. If the distance is longer than 50ft, a demand pump can be added. Access to a drain must be available.
Q: What happens if I move – can I take the R/O system with me?
A: Absolutely. Acquaclear can remove the system and set it up in your new location.
Q: I live in an apartment or rent a home – can I still install a system?
A: Yes. Installation of an R/O system does not cause any damage, so even if you are renting, you can still install a system and since it is fully transportable, you can take it with you when you move.
Q: What kind of warranty comes with a Reverse Osmosis system?
A: A one-year manufacturing warranty on all parts, excluding filters.
